This Privacy Policy explains how PinBuddy ("PinBuddy", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use the PinBuddy web app at pinbuddy.net and the PinBuddy browser extension (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

Who we are

PinBuddy is a tool that helps you bulk-schedule Pinterest pins from your own images, collect pin data, and import images from web pages into your PinBuddy account. The web app and the browser extension share the same account and data backend.

Information we collect

1. Account information

When you sign in we create an account using Firebase Authentication. Depending on how you sign in we receive:

• Google Sign-In: your name, email address, and profile photo URL from your Google account.
• Email & password: your email address (your password is handled and stored by Firebase Authentication; we never see or store your raw password).

2. Content you create or import

• Images you upload to schedule as pins, and images you import from a web page or an Etsy shop using the extension. Imported images are re-hosted on our cloud storage so they can be used in a Pinterest-ready CSV.
• Pin details you enter or generate — titles, descriptions, board names, destination links, keywords, and publish dates.
• Pinterest pin data the extension reads while you browse Pinterest — such as a pin's image, description, board, and public engagement counts (likes, saves, comments, reactions). This is used to display stats and to let you save pins to your PinBuddy account at your request.

3. Usage and device data

We use privacy-respecting product analytics (PostHog) to understand how the Service is used and to improve it. This may include pages viewed, features used, approximate location derived from IP, browser type, and device information. We may also collect error and diagnostic data to fix bugs.

How the browser extension uses permissions

The extension requests only the permissions it needs to function:

• Access to pinterest.com and etsy.com pages — to display pin stats, scan images, and import listings when you ask it to.
• Identity — to sign you in with your Google account.
• Storage — to remember your sign-in state and preferences and to cache pins you collect.
• Tabs / activeTab / scripting — to run the import and scan features on the page you choose.
• Downloads — to let you export collected data.

The extension acts only on pages you visit and on actions you initiate. It does not track your browsing on unrelated websites.

How we use your information

• To provide core features: authentication, image hosting, pin creation, scheduling, and CSV export.
• To sync your data between the web app and the extension.
• To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
• To communicate with you about your account, including email verification and password resets.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content of your pins or images for advertising.

Where your data is stored

We use trusted third-party processors to run the Service:

• Google Firebase (Authentication & Firestore) — accounts and your pin/image records.
• Cloud object storage — your uploaded and imported image files.
• Cloudflare — hosting and content delivery.
• PostHog — product analytics.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.

Data retention

We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual images and pins in the app at any time. When you delete your account, we remove your associated personal data and content within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations.

Your rights and choices

• Access, correct, or delete your account data from within the app.
• Sign out at any time to clear locally stored sign-in state in the extension.
• Request deletion of your account and data by contacting us (see below).
• Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access, port, or object to processing of your data.

Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted transport (HTTPS), authenticated access to your data, and access controls on our storage. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Third-party services

PinBuddy works with Pinterest and Etsy pages but is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Pinterest or Etsy. Your use of those sites is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
